Suzuki GSX-R 1000 Service Manual: Starter relay removal and installation
Removal
- Turn the ignition switch off.
- Remove the front seat. Refer to “exterior parts removal and installation” in section 9d (page 9d- 6).
- Disconnect the battery (–) lead wire (1) from the battery.
- Remove the starter relay cover (2) and disconnect the starter relay coupler (3).
- Disconnect the starter motor lead wire (4) and battery (+) lead wire (5).
- Remove the starter relay (6).
Installation
Install the starter relay in the reverse order of removal.
Starter motor inspection
Refer to “starter motor disassembly and assembly” .
Carbon brush
Inspect the carbon brushes for abnormal wear, cracks or
smoothness in the brush holder.
