Suzuki GSX-R 1000 Service Manual: Throttle cable play inspection and adjustment

Inspect throttle cable play initially at 1 000 km (600 miles, 2 months) and every 6 000 km (4 000 miles, 12 months) thereafter

Inspect and adjust the throttle cable play “a” as follows:

Throttle cable play “a” 2.0 – 4.0 Mm (0.08 – 0.16 In)

  1. Remove the boot (1).
  2.  Loosen the lock-nut (2) of the throttle pulling cable.
  3.  Turn the adjuster (3) in or out until the throttle cable play “a” (at the throttle grip) is within 2 – 4 mm (0.08 – 0.16 In).
  4.  Tighten the lock-nut (2) while holding the adjuster (3).
  5.  Fit the boot (1) positively onto the adjuster.

After the
adjustment is completed, check that handlebar movement does not raise the engine idle speed and that the throttle grip returns smoothly and automatically.
