Suzuki GSX-R 1000 Service Manual: Camshaft sprocket
Inspect the camshaft sprocket in the following procedures:
- remove the intake and exhaust camshafts. Refer to “engine top side disassembly” .
- Inspect the teeth of each camshaft sprocket for wear
or damage.
If they are worn or damaged, replace the sprocket/ camshaft assembly and cam chain as a set.
- Install the camshafts. Refer to “engine top side assembly” .

Vehicle identification number
The frame serial number or V.I.N. (Vehicle identification
number) “a” is stamped on the right side of the steering
head tube. The engine serial number “b” is located on
the lower crankcase. These numbers are required
especially for registering the machine and ordering
spare parts.
